As a Database Automation Engineer, you help build Coolblue’s cloud platform, automate databases and backups, and ensure that applications run securely and reliably. You work closely with development teams to make their environment a little better every day.
What do you do as a Database Automation Engineer at Coolblue?
Together with your team, you support Coolblue’s cloud platform and further develop our database infrastructure. You automate recurring tasks such as backups, deployment pipelines, and creating new databases with Python and Infrastructure as Code. You help development teams with technical issues, incidents, and version upgrades of their Oracle and Aurora databases. Through effective monitoring, auditing, and smart automation, you ensure that our data is secure and our applications continue to run smoothly, directly contributing to happy customers and Coolblue employees.
- Build a serverless application with Python that makes a backup to S3 every day.
- Improve an SQL statement that is causing problems together with developers.
- Set up and configure auditing in an Oracle database.
- Find an incident in a back-end system.
- Adjust the auditing settings on the Oracle database.
- Plan an Aurora version upgrade together with development teams.
This is how you recognize yourself
- Relevant work experience, for example with cloud platforms and databases.
- Solution-oriented, with strong investigative skills.
- Experience with a cloud service, preferably AWS.
- Development experience in Python.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog.
- Experience with Oracle 19c databases and Oracle GoldenGate.
- Familiarity with query tuning and the Oracle RDS database architecture.
- Knowledge of the challenges of Oracle on the AWS platform.
- Preferably knowledge of AWS Aurora or a database on AWS RDS.
- Preferably an Oracle Database Certification.
- Good at prioritizing different tasks.
